We’re thrilled to announce that production is officially underway for Art Deco Dreams: A Miami Beach Story, a new documentary exploring the vibrant, untold history of one of America’s most iconic cities. Miami Beach has always been more than a destination—it's a dream, a battleground, and a beacon.
Told by Locals, Legends, and Lifelong Insiders
Directed by local historian and tour guide Damian Rudys and produced by preservation advocate Doyle Forrestal, the documentary features:

Interviews with architects, city planners, preservationists, historians, artists, and residents
Previously untold perspectives
Archival visuals from the 1920s to today
Behind-the-scenes truths rarely shared
A special spotlight on the 1970s-90s preservation movement that saved the Deco District from the bulldozers
Insights that have remained in the shadows—until now
Unseen angles on familiar history
Whether you're a lifelong local, a fan of architecture, or just someone who fell in love with MB, Art Deco Dreams traces the emotional and cultural forces that have sculpted Miami Beach into what it is today.
Why Now?
With preservation once again under threat and the city rapidly changing, there’s never been a more urgent time to reflect on what made Miami Beach unique—and what might be lost without action.
As we mark the 50th anniversary of the Miami Design Preservation League and prepare for next year’s Art Deco Weekend, this film will serve as both a tribute and a call to protect the stories etched into these streets, and often hidden in plain sight.
Stay Tuned
The documentary is slated for completion in 2026, with screenings planned at festivals, historical events, and cultural venues across Florida and beyond. An official trailer will be released later this year.
